From the Principal

Two terms in a row, way to go!

While we are all a little weary as we hit the middle of the year it is indeed wonderful to have been able to have two terms of uninterrupted face-to-face learning. Things are indeed starting to feel a little bit more like things were before COVID. What a blessing it is!

Recently we’ve had student leadership conferences, athletics, inter-school sport, College musical, incursions and excursions as well as VCE exams. As the frame goes up on our new Primary building and the slab is about to be poured on the new art centre the campus is buzzing. Enrolments for 2023 continue to be finalised with only a handful of spaces available.

It has been a long term for our entire community and it is right that I acknowledge the hard work of the College staff this term who have picked up an additional load to support our students through the higher than usual absence rate that all schools have experienced.

As we move into the school break, our minds turn to think of rest, relaxation and recuperation. For some of us, that means a trip away and others perhaps just making the best of the weekends available to us.  While my beloved Adelaide Crows are not going so well at the moment I am personally looking forward to catching a game of football as part of my time away from the College.

In the last weeks following Pentecost, our worship at the College has focused on the work of the Holy Spirit. Unlike God the Father and Jesus the son, imagining and grappling with the concept of the Spirit is much more difficult. What we do know is that God gave his spirit to be with us all as a gift. It has been said that the Holy Spirit is like the wind - you cannot see the wind but only the effect of the wind.

It has also been said that the Spirit is found as a still small voice only able to be heard when we stop and listen. It is our prayer for all of our community members that this time of rest allows us not just to reconnect with our families but also reconnect with our God.

If you haven’t been able to get to church or your faith community for some time, take this opportunity to do so. If you haven’t sat in peace and quiet to reflect or read the Bible, put some time aside.

Galatians 5:22-25 reads: “...the Spirit produces love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, 23 humility, and self-control…The Spirit has given us life..”

May the blessing of the spirit flow through you as you enjoy our time away from the College.

Blessings

Tom
