Term 3
Recycled junk, found objects, nature, yarn, paper, glue, clay, plaster, electronic components, wood, junk are just some of the materials that will find their way into the artworks of our creators this term. The emphasis this term is 3D construction, learning how to join materials and creating functional objects. Many of the works created this term will take pride of place in the Art Show at our Festival of Hidden Treasures.
Foundation, Grade 1 and 2 students are investigating the words of Artist Paul Klee; "A line is a dot that went for a walk". We have asked the questions; What is a line? What is a shape? How many lines can you draw? What is the difference between a line and a shape?
We have explored drawing prompts such as sounds and feelings and enjoyed the outcomes of this creative process.
Grade 1 and 2 artists had fun playing "Spin-a-Shape" to randomly select shapes for their Robot drawings. Isn't it amazing how each drawing is so unique in how the artist has chosen to use their shapes! We look forward to making 3D versions of our designs in the coming weeks. Try the link here to have a go at drawing your own robot!
Grade 3 and 4 artists complete their Pumpkin Lanterns this week. We are all very excited to showcase them at the Art Show and are looking forward to see them glow with tiny lights inside!
Grade 5 and 6 students have completed their Personalised Paint Palettes in readiness for this terms project. We have made tiny paint pots that hold watercolour pigments. Some students have extended their collection of functional pieces with accessories for their watercolour sets; spoons, brush rests and water pots. We used a beautiful oyster speckled glaze to enhance the forms - our first experience with functional glazing. We are very proud of these pieces.
