Plum Job for Ian Colrain PhD 

SVC 1974-79

On June 9 the MRIGlobal Board of Directors announced that Ian Colrain PhD has been named president and chief executive officer of MRIGlobal and will assume the role beginning July 1. With the appointment, Ian assumes responsibility of all operations for MRIGlobal.  Ian was previously with SRI International (formerly Stanford Research Institute) as president of SRI Biosciences, where he led the strategic planning, business development and research operations for a multidisciplinary team of more than 250 employees with top- and bottom-line responsibility for its $75 million annual operating budget.  

 

MRIGlobal is an American independent, not-for-profit, contract research organization based in Kansas City, Missouri, with regional offices in Virginia and Maryland. In addition to its own research laboratories, MRIGlobal operates research facilities for the Department of Energy and the Department of Defense.

Ian served as a reserve officer in the Australian Army Psychology Corps and earned the Australian Defence Medal. He is a graduate of the University of Tasmania with a B.Sc. degree in computer science and psychology, a BSc Honours in psychology and a PhD in psychology with specialization in sleep psychophysiology. Ian has also maintained an appointment as a Professorial Fellow in Psychology at the University of Melbourne. Ian and his wife and two daughters.

 

Ian is the son of Michael and Marlene Colrain. Michael Colrain OAM  attended the College 1950-54 A renowned musician, fundraiser and supporter of charitable organizations, he was inducted onto the St Virgil’s Heritage Roll in 2010. Ian’s younger brother, Andrew (SVC 1974-79) is an accountant and is well known on the local entertainment scene.

Kevin Lynch MD (SVC 1977-82)

 

Kevin was deputy Head Prefect in his final year at the College and during his time there excelled in soccer (a key member of the SSATIS premiership team) and athletics (winner of the prestigious Brother Bill Wilding Trophy for the Most Determined Athlete in 1980).

 

Kevin went on to study medicine at University of Tasmania and proceeded to a professional life in research and development that has spanned 30 years and in various locations around the globe.

 

Kevin is married with four children – two boys and two girls – and is currently residing in Sydney, where he is Chief Medical Officer at Antengene.
