Clara "I learnt how to skip two on the monkey bars! We learnt how to protect our sea creatures and we did a breaking news about it and made a poster. We are also learning about friends of ten and 'zip' is the word of the week."
Grades 1 and 2
Xavier (1F): "Today we played first to 50. You get a whiteboard to keep score. You have to make bundles of ones to make a ten. You roll a dice and that tells you how many sticks you get. You move your counter and you need to get to 50. The first one to get to 50 is the winner. I did some weekend writing. I wrote about Kian coming for a visit to my house".
Safi (2G) : "We have been doing production practice. We do spelling every day. We played dodgeball in sport, and I love it because I like games with balls and it is exciting".
Grades 3 and 4
Nuno (3S): "We have done a LOT of production practice! We are learning different strategies for subtraction in maths. Today some of us learnt how to subtract by decomposing numbers and other people played a maths game using playing cards. We are doing a project where we have to write about an Australian Animal, and my animal is a Koala."
Olivia (4E): "We are learning about endangered animals, including their habitat, why they're endangered, what they look like, and their diet. We will be doing an expo. We need to research and then put it into a poster, movie, diagram or other kind of presentation. We are writing narrative stories on our iPads. It can be something totally made up from your imagination. I am writing my story about three friends who go into a forest and there are evil animals that try to eat them. We are also practicing addition and subtraction using a variety of strategies."
Grades 5 and 6
Luca (5C): "We have been using fractions to solve maths equations. We are learning more about techniques for solving them. We have been learning about film techniques and have been studying The War on Waste. We have looked at creating perspective through high shots, low shots, and how to use sound to change the mood. We are studying animals with our prep buddies. I have been studying jellyfish with my buddy, looking at their habitat and how they live."
Mary (6B): "We have been learning a lot about decimals and fractions. A highlight for me was the Cheer Toastie truck. We have also been learning about film techniques such as 'mis en' scene, high shots, non-diegetic and diegetic sounds and we had to make a short documentary using some of these techniques. We have been doing a lot of production practice. I love it because it is a lot of fun"
