BOYS SAPSASA SOCCER

On Wednesday  the 15th of June, the selected team of Year 5/6 boys attended round one of the Statewide knockout soccer competition held at Trinity Gardens Primary School. Three teams competed in this carnival and the winner went through to round two. The results for the day were as followed:

Game 1

Trinity Gardens defeated Westbourne Park 4-3

Game 2

Magill and Westbourne Park drew 2-2

Game 3

Trinity Gardens and Magill drew 1-1

The skills were high and the tension was higher, making it an awesome day of soccer with every game producing nail-biting action. With two draws, unfortunately Magill finished the round in second place and were knocked out of the competition, and Trinity Gardens will move on to round 2 as the winners of the day.

The boys represented Magill with pride and showed unbelievable passion and determination at all times. It was an absolute pleasure coaching the boys and witnessing their commitment and enthusiasm. Whilst we may not have made it through to the next round, I hope the boys are as proud of themselves as I am.

GIRLS SAPSASA SOCCER

On Friday the 17th of June, the selected team of Year 5/6 girls competed in round 1 of the statewide soccer knockout competition which was held in the parklands of Pulteney Grammar School. We played against 2 other schools which were Pulteney and Burnside and the winner would make it through to round 2. The results for the day were as followed:

Game 1

Pulteney Grammar defeated Burnside

Game 2

Burnside defeated Magill

Game 3

Pulteney Grammar defeated Magill

Although our team was inexperienced, they showed incredible confidence and teamwork skills. Their positivity and team spirit were admirable. It was pleasing to see the team develop from the beginning of the first game, to the end of the second. They became much more comfortable with the rules and structure of a soccer game and the coaches and parents of the other teams had many positive comments towards the way we held ourselves. It was a great day for all, with a lot of learning achieved along the way. Congratulations to Pulteney for making it through to the next round.
