Health & Physical Education

Semester 1 was a very busy term for the Health and PE Team where most of us were new to the Shelford community. However, with this new team came new ideas and ways to deliver our curriculum to engage students across year levels with a focus on participation and enjoyment. Our Year 7, 8 and 9 students were able to participate in many challenging and exciting units from Athletics and Fitness to SEPEP Soccer and invasion games sport activities. Year 10 students were exposed to a wide range of activities they can adopt as lifelong physical activities such as cycling, playing golf and building on their aerobic power through aerobics.

In VCE Health and Human Development students have been working hard learning about the dimensions of health and wellbeing, indicators and health status of Australians. In VCE Physical Education students have participated in a number of learning activities that have enhanced their application of theory content through METs Performance. These programs include a biomechanics workshop, as well as participating in VO2 max and Wingate Testing. All students participated in a fitness test battery where they gained an understanding of test protocols and aims.

This Semester we welcome back Aimee-Claire Lees from maternity leave and look forward to having another great semester.
