What is the subject about?
Students will focus on the health and individual human development of Australia’s youth and analyse factors that influence health and individual human development of youth, including the importance of nutrition. The health status of Australia’s youth is investigated including the concepts of morbidity and mortality from disease and injuries. Students identify issues that have an impact on the health and individual human development of
Australia’s youth and develop an inquiry project around an issue of their choice.
They investigate transitions in development across the lifespan, looking at changes and expectations that are part of the progression from youth to adulthood. Students study considerations of parenthood and management of health-related milestones and changes. Students enquire into the Australian healthcare system and extend their capacity to access and analyse health information.
