August 29th     School Athletics Day

Prep - 6:

As the Athletics Sports Day is coming up at the end of next month students across the school have been learning the key skills of different athletic events.  The last two weeks have seen the student learning the correct technique and jumps for High Jump.  It is great seeing the students jumping high and higher each year.

State Cross County:

Last Thursday Clancy Keenan represented the school at State Cross Country.  Clancy did a fantastic job and came 52nd out of 92. This is a fantastic effort considering he ran 3km in muddy condition on a rolling hilly course.  He ran the 3km in a time of 12.01 so a 4min km pace.  Well done Clancy on representing the school at State level!

Regional Football Championships.

On Friday 5th August our School Football team will be heading to Benalla to play against Yarrawonga P-12 and Wodonga Primary School.  This is the next step before playing at State level.  St Luke’s has had individual students make it to a State level in different sports but never had a team make it to Regional level.  Notes will go out on Monday via PAM.  A bus has been booked and students will be leaving school at 8:30 am on Friday the 5th of August.

Year 5/6 Winter Sports.

On Wednesday our Year 5/6 students participated in the first round of our Winter Sports Days.  We entered teams in Netball, Handball, T.Ball and Soccer.  We had some fantastic results with all of our netball teams winning as well as our TBall team.  Our Handball teams both drew with their opposition and our soccer team went down in a close fought game.  These winter sports will be being played for the next 4 weeks on a Wednesday afternoon if anyone would like to come down to McKewen Reserve and have a look.

Athletic Sports Day.

After not being able to run the Athletics Sports Day at the Athletics Track for the last 2 years due to COVID it will be great to get the school back down to the track and have a great day.  The date has been set for Monday the 29th of August.  Further information will be sent home in the coming weeks.
