IDAHOBIT Day at EMC

On May 17th, the College celebrated the International Day Against Homophobia, Biphobia, Intersexism, and Transphobia, or IDAHOBIT.

At recess, we held a flag raising ceremony in the staff car park. Georgia Powell and Audrey Bailey spoke as the flag was raised, and it was wonderful to see so many faces attend the ceremony.

There were some very fun lunchtime activities to celebrate. There were flags, badges and stickers, cookies and lollies, giant board game and queer karaoke.

Students were required to answer questions such as “What is IDAHOBIT?” and “How can we support the LGBTQIA+ community?” to get lollies, cookies and badges.

We had a lot of fun playing games, and singing our hearts out to “I Kissed a Girl” by Katy Perry, and “Born This Way” by Lady Gaga.  Overall, everyone had a great time, and the day was a huge success in raising awareness about the LGBTQIA+ community.
