Learning and Teaching

Literacy around St Brendan’s

In Grade 3/4, we have been creating Information reports about countries around the world. First, we had to research information about the country such as language, celebrations, flora and fauna, religion and food. We created a poster that included a map of the country, it’s flag and we got to include two fun facts. We shared our posters with our Year 1/ 2 buddy class - mine is Ms Haddocks. We were learning about countries around the world because it was Harmony week last week. We also showed the year 1/2 classes because they will be learning about information reports so this could help give them some ideas! - Zoe Wardley 3/4MK

I have attached the link for the brief survey in preparation for the Parent Literacy evening on Tuesday, May 2nd at 7 pm. The information evening will be a chance for parents to learn more about the approaches we take to teaching the different aspects of literacy at St Brendan’s. There will also be the opportunity for parents to learn some strategies for supporting their children with literacy at home, followed by time for questions. I would be so appreciative of any responses, to ensure that we are tailoring the information night to meet the needs of our school community.
