 Canberra Camp 2023

Adrina - Last Monday, all the year sixes flew to Canberra. We had a fun week spending time with our friends and teachers. We visited some major landmarks such as the old and new Parliament Houses, the Australian Institute of Sport, the Royal Australian Mint, the Australian War Memorial, Questacon, and the National Arboretum.  The Highlight of the trip for me was definitely Questacon. We went down a really fun slide and had an amazing time. I would like to thank all the teachers that came on camp to make it such a great experience for all the Grade Sixes.

Jenna - On the first week of Term 2, the Year Sixes left for Canberra. On our second day, we got up at 4 a.m. to go to the Anzac Dawn Service on Anzac Day itself. It was full of people! We saw the Prime Minister and the Sergeant-at-Arms. We sang the Australian anthem and saw the beautiful dawn light rise up slowly. The once in alifetime experience made the early day start worth it. The day after, we visited the War Memorial. We learnt about all the wars Australia has participated in to make our home what it is today. There was so much more than I realised! Canberra was a fantastic place to learn about our history and as well consolidate our learning on Democracy. Thank you to all the teachers that attended to make our camp the best experience.

Isaac - Last Monday the Year 6’s were lucky enough to go to Canberra. It was a great experience, I enjoyed going to the Australian Royal Mint, Questacon, Parliament House but my favourite place we went to was AIS. This stands for the Australian Institute of Sport.  We were taken on a tour around the place and some of the sports we saw were gymnastics, volleyball, track and field running and swimming as well as many more. AIS is also a place were athletes can train for sporting events. We also went into a sports room which had all different sports in it that we were able to interact with. Overall this was a great camp, we were able to see many things, build independence and spend quality time with our friends and teachers. This will be a camp I’ll never forget.

Jude - Last week, the Year Sixes got to travel to Canberra.  We explored many different landmarks such as the Parliament House, The Royal Australian Mint, High Court and many more.  For me, the highlight of our trip was going to Questacon. We learnt about the moon, went on a huge slide and even saw a talking and moving robot!  I also enjoyed going on a night walk at the Botanical Gardens where we learnt about different types of plants and photosynthesis.  Overall, it was a really successful trip and we all had a fantastic time.
