Friends & Feelings

This semester, all students in Years 1 & 3 are participating in a friends & feelings program which complements our whole school THRIVE curriculum.

Once a week the students are involved in activities and discussions that cover topics such as:

  • Positive body language and eye contact
  • Personal space bubbles
  • Using our manners
  • Understanding the different levels of conflict and strategies to solve them
  • Turn taking and getting along
  • Identifying our emotions and body cues
  • Looking at the zones of regulation
  • Strategies to stay calm e.g. square breathing, yoga
  • How to ask for help
  • Using “I” messages to stand up for ourselves and to express how we are feeling
  • Being a good friend and the value of doing nice things for others

It’s been great seeing the students getting involved in the lessons, readily contributing their ideas and listening to their peers.

Students continue to be involved in THRIVE activities in their classrooms. They are learning to:

Try your best

Be Healthy

Relate Well
