UHS Sport Update – Term 2 2023

Across a very busy term so far, we have had multiple sporting events across the UHS sport program with some outstanding results achieved by our students. 

State Swimming Championships

The UHS swim team made our way to MSAC for the State Swimming Championships on the 28th April and we saw some outstanding results! Firstly, congratulations to all swimmers that made it to the state championship. To be in the top 8 swimmers in the state is an incredible achievement.

Results 

Tiffany competed in the 12/13 Girls 50m backstroke (the only 12 year old in her age group) and finished 2nd by 0.15 of a second. Amazing swim by Tiff and we are hoping she can go one better next year! 

Our boys in the 12-14 200m Medley Relay team came home in 3rd place and then going one better and finishing in 2nd place in the 14 Year Olds 200m Freestyle Relay. Massive shoutout to Callum Pittard of 7G1 who swam an amazing 3rd leg without goggles and his mullet out the back of his swim cap as marshalling error meant he had to dive in the pool straight away! Well done, Callum. 

Division and Region Sport

Throughout Term 2, we sent out teams across all year levels to compete in the Inner North Division and the Northern Metro Region with over 800 students representing UHS on sports day across AFL, Soccer, Netball & Badminton & Tennis! 

These teams competed against our neighbouring schools within the Inner North area for the opportunity to progress through to the regional level. With our Year 8, Intermediate and Senior boys' badminton teams progressing onto the region finals which will be held in term 3. We also held the division athletics and cross country with over 60 students progressing on the region level which is a fantastic achievement by all! 

Term 3

Looking ahead to Term 3 sport we will have both the Regional Athletics (August 30th Week 8) and our normal Term 3 interschool sports being conducted with basketball, futsal, table tennis and hockey on offer. Please keep an eye on the sports noticeboard and Compass to make sure you are up to date with any sign ups or preferences.
