Senior Badminton

On April 27th, our Senior Badminton teams participated in the Yarra District Interschool Completion at Kilsyth Stadium. The students represented our school values proudly, with both the male and female teams winning the competition.  A shout out to the female team, who won 3-0 and played impressive matches throughout the day. The first boys team won with a score of 4-1; they maintained a very consistent game.  Our second boys team placed 4th with a score of 2-3 and showed determination even when going up against our own side. Well done LHC Senior Badminton teams!

Yarra District Cross Country

57 of our students from all year levels represented the College at Yarra District Cross Country at Lilydale Lake on Friday 5th May.  The support and encouragement that each of our students provided one another was a privilege to watch and was something that was commented on by other schools on the day.  There were some exemplary performances which saw Lilydale Heights place equal third overall.  A total of 19 of our students have progressed through to the Eastern Zone round later in the year.

A particular mention goes to the following students who finished on the podium in their respective events:

Brookley H. (13 y/o girls) – 3rd place

Charlie A. (14 y/o boys) – 2nd place

Imogen M. (15 y/o girls) – 2nd place

Jake A. (16 y/o boys) – 1st place

A highly successful day all round!

Year 8 Boys Soccer - Winners

The Year 8 Boys Soccer Team headed to Silcock Reserve on May 10th to defend their Yarra Distract crown from 2023. The boys had two decisive wins in their first two games, winning 7-0 against Upper Yarra and 8-3 against Lilydale High.  With Monbulk coming into the final game needing a win, the boys scored the first two goals, but at half-time it was 2 all.  The team decided that playing for a draw was not in their DNA and continued to press Monbulk’s organised and disciplined defence, but were unlucky to concede with eight minutes to go.  The boys quickly increased their intensity on the ball and Marco scored his third goal for the game with an amazing strike from outside the box.  The boys held on for a draw and this talented group of young footballers will go through to Eastern Zone for the second year in a row.

Goal scorers:

Marco L. - 8                Connor M. - 5                Augie C. - 4             Pip M. - 1

It’s too hard to pinpoint individuals; every player had impressive moments, particularly in the last and most important game.  Congratulations boys!

Yarra Division All Days Netball

On Monday 15th May we had over thirty students from Years 7-9 participate in the Yarra Division All Boys Netball competition.  Each of our teams showed fantastic effort levels and played with a positive attitude throughout the day. Overall, our junior and intermediate teams both finished third on the day.

Athletics Carnival

Another successful Athletics Carnival was held on Tuesday 9th May. We battled the weather throughout the day, however, students showed great resilience and there was a fantastic level of participation!  As always, the 100m sprint was the most popular event of the day. It was great to see the friendly rivalry between staff and the Year 12's, with staff reclaiming the decathlon winning title.
