A Word from the Principal

‘Thus says the Lord: “Stand by the roads, and look, and ask for the ancient paths, where the good way is; and walk in it, and find rest for your souls’.

On Monday last week, all College staff participated in a Spirituality Day, a time to reconnect, reflect and strengthen why we work in a Catholic School.  Staff had the opportunity to revisit our charism from the Sisters of Charity exploring key sites, participate in a silent and reflective retreat or join a statewide online experience exploring our faith in the modern context of tweeting.  

I was fortunate enough to participate on the Sisters of Charity pilgrimage, exploring key sites from the grave of the Sisters at Cornelian Bay to the sites of St Joseph’s Church in Macquarie Street and the first schoolhouse in View Street. Developing an understanding of the Sisters’ stories, journeys and work enabled us to develop a deeper understanding of their work and care for those most in need as well as the stories behind our key values of Courage, Compassion and Justice.  The tireless work of the Sisters with convicts, orphans, families and hospitals was an inspiration to us all and I encourage all families to read their story below.

Kindergarten and Early Learning Centre Update

Plans are almost finalised for the new White House, the ‘Louisa’, as we commence refurbishment in the next few weeks of term for our Kindergarten students.  We hope to have a visual walk-through available from our architects for families to explore this new space.  Special thanks to our Capital Works committee for their hard work in this space.

Kindergarten Enrolments 2024

A reminder that Kindergarten enrolments for next year are due tomorrow.  Please contact the College Office for an enrolment pack or remind any families in the community who may be considering Mount Carmel for Kindergarten next year.  

These lucky students will be working in our new space on Sandy Bay Road, with an Open Day coming soon for prospective families.
