Welcome to Term 2! It has been great to have our students back and I hope you and your family were able to make the most of the extended break.
We've made a good start to the term and students have been enjoying reconnecting with their classmates and enjoying all that Autumn has to offer!
On Tuesday, SRC members, Sierra, Charlize, Eli, Luella, Arthur and Queenie attended the ANZAC Day service to represent our school and lay a floral tribute. Congratulations to all these students for the pride and respect with which they represented our school, and also to Shelby, who had the honour of raising the Torres Strait Islander flag as part of the rouse. I would also like to extend a special thank you to the Lewinson family for donating the floral tribute.
Over the holidays, works have continued to be undertaken to upgrade our BER building (also our Shelter in Place) inline with current Bushfire standards. This has included a replacement of the decking boards, which have been recycled into kindling by the Men's Shed.
On behalf of all the students, I'd like to give a big thank you to the Mount Beauty Tennis Club for their recent donation of table-tennis equipment. The new table and mini-tables will be a great addition to our sports programme!
Today, all students in Prep-6 had the unique opportunity to attend a performance with the illusionist and children's entertainer, 'The Quizzical Mr Jeff'. This highly entertaining and skilled performance provided lots of 'ooohs and aahhs' and was made possible thanks to the Upper Kiewa Valley Regional Arts group.
Next Thursday, students in Years 4-6 will have an opportunity to participate in an special education programe with Landcare, focussing on frog identification. This will include learning about frog habitat and their calls. Students will also learn about a Frog ID app and how they can become citizen scientists.
Families are invited to apply for CSEF funding through the following link. Camps, Sports and Excursions Fund (CSEF): Resources | education.vic.gov.au if you have not applied already or have been rolled over from previous years. To qualify for this funding, families need to have a Health Care card (or an equivalent concession card). We encourage families who can, to take up this program of $125/student to go towards costings of camps and excursions for their children. Applications remain open for this year until the 23rd June 2023.
