Gardening Club

Children from Prep to Year 6 have been helping in the garden during Term 1. They have re-planted the flower boxes with some impatience, cleared out the HEART garden to prepare for rejuvenating it and put together two more planters to plant some Winter vegetables in Term 2. 

By deepening children's sense of connection with nature, gardening at school can inspire environmental stewardship. Our children are developing responsibility by caring for the plants and understanding concepts such as cause and effect - weeds compete with plants, plants die without water etc. 

But most of all, being outside and participating in a 'grounding' activity is fun.
