NCCD

Nationally Consistent Collection of Data

The Disability Standards for Education 2005 (the Standards) require that all Australian schools:

  • Ensure that students with disability can access and participate in education on the same basis as students without disabilities
  • make or provide 'reasonable adjustments for students where necessary to enable their access and participation
  • Provide reasonable adjustments in consultation with the student and/or their associates; for most students, this means their parents, guardians or carers.

During Term 2, teachers with the School Improvement Team moderate their adjustments to support students who may require additional support. We submit all this information to MACS, which via the government and the NCCD process, provides the school with additional funds to ensure that supporting students with additional needs is a key priority.

Support is provided in many ways, including those listed below:

  • Considering adjusting the curriculum to meet the learning needs of the student
  • Provide alterations to the physical environment so students can access information
  • Using alternative technology
  • Providing support via additional personnel in the classroom who may work 1:1 with students, with a small group or support students while the teacher works with specific students.
  • Additional literacy support through the delivery of Tier 2 and Tier 3 interventions.
  • Providing additional support via our school psychologist and school chaplain.
  • Consult with parents/guardians each term or semester to ensure we collaborate with families.
  • Ongoing professional development to ensure that we are aware of current incentives that support students.

If you have any questions about the process of supporting your child at school, please speak with your child's classroom teacher or me.
