Love Your Library

We had lots of fun to start the term as we introduced the Library to our new students and celebrated school libraries.  Students completed Library quizzes and lucky winners were able to visit the 'VIP Restaurant' to enjoy some refreshments with their reading.

Holiday Reads

Don't forget to return any overdue books and grab yourself some holiday reading.  Remember that we also have eBooks and Audiobooks available via our Library website (instructions on downloading the app to devices is there) and/or login to your own library record and download via the search catalogue.  Year 7 & 8's - don't forget to 'log' all your books in your Reading Journals.

Book Bites Club

Join Ms Banfield and other students in the Learning Hub at lunchtime on Fridays to share your own 'book bites' - favourites reads, authors, series, VPRC news, book reviews and the upcoming Melbourne Writer's Festival event.

Victorian Premiers' Reading Challenge 2023

If you are looking for a personal reading challenge then you need to join the VPRC.  We are currently enrolling students and look forward to having others join in.  You have until 1 September to read a minimum of 15 books - see Ms Banfield (Friday lunchtime) or Mrs Swannell (Librarian) for more details.

To read the Premier’s letter to parents, view the booklist and for more information about the Victorian Premiers’ Reading Challenge, visit: https://www.vic.gov.au/premiers-reading-challenge

Fishing anyone...?

Year 7-9 Language & Literature classes have been using their library sessions to learn about the new 'genres' that are being used for our fiction collection.  It's been a lot of fun as they played 'Name that genre' and 'Genre match' within teams and also tried to guess the total number of books in our current collection.  Congratulations to 8E Warringa (blue) group - Sam, Eddie, Josh, Holly, Zac - overall winners with 66 points and the 'Genre Team Champions' andto 9A Manyung (red) group - Amelia, Jess, Tommy, Hunter who had the nearest guess of 10,602 - the answer was 10,818.

Marvellous George

Year 8 students were inspired by author George Ivanov recently when he visited to share his insights into writing short stories. George has written over more than 100 books for kids and teens, including the interactive You Choose series, the non-fiction Survival Guides, the RFDS Adventures and the Other Worlds series.

Library Team members Charlotte and Bethany were also able to have him sign the poster they created for the visit.

ANZAC Day Display

Each year we create an ANZAC Day display in the Library and this year we have been able to use our new display area boards.  Thanks to Library Team for helping out with this wonderful display honouring our ANZACS.
