Grade 5/6 Students

Celebrating our fantastic Fives and sensational Sixes!

5/6A - Miss Lee

In 56A, students have been getting so excited about the end of year with learning the lyrics for Christmas carols, preparing for graduation, writing speeches for potential leadership roles in 2023 and finalising their various projects. The countdown is definitely on, so please check your child’s diary as we try to keep up with the busy schedule. It is definitely ALL happening.

The image for this week is an example of the level of work being completed in the classroom in maths. Here Lola, Ollie and Grace proudly present the task completed for Statistics and Probability spinner. The calibre of task across the whole class was simply amazing.

5/6B Update - Our Tiny House Nation

Rich, authentic Maths has been the order of the day in 5/6B over the last few weeks. Students have been creating their own ‘Tiny House Nation’. Sketching floor plans, Calculating area, perimeter, volume and capacity, converting units and sketching a house using Google SketchUp. Students will price up their landscaping, investigate retail prices in local areas and test the market. It is like our very own version of The Block (minus the staged drama)!

Shape of You

In 5/6C we have broken down our tiny houses into small sections and looked into calculating the area of some different shapes. We have looked at quadrilaterals, triangle and even the area of circles! Pie (π) anyone?

Here is Polly W’s shape included in her year book.

Here comes the story of Hurricane

5/6C have continued to look into natural disasters and how different disasters can impact our geographical landscape. Here is Amelia B’s poster all about hurricanes. Well done Amelia!

 5/6D - Mr Jared

Tess is designing her new tiny house! This floor plan is going to be brought to life on a program called sketchup which will make this creation into a real 3D image.
