Grade 2 Students

Celebrating our terrific Twos!

2A - Mr E

It is hard to believe we are quickly approaching the end of 2022! It is an exciting time of the year with a lot going on. In 2A, we have been learning about maps and location. We discussed different features of a map and discovered how important it is to orientate your map, or you will get lost quickly. We investigated grid references by playing Battleships and made treasure maps. We finished the week with a school-wide orientation course where we applied our new knowledge to find clues hidden around the school!

2B - Miss Bailey

This week in Maths, 2B have been learning all about volume and capacity. We loved taking on some hands-on learning tasks by measuring the capacity of different objects in teams using water. We poured water into an object and then used a measuring judge to record how much water it could hold. Interestingly, we discovered very quickly that it was best to put the measuring jug on the floor when trying to read the measurement, as otherwise the water was moving too much. We also did some comparisons by pouring water from one object to another and seeing if the water overflowed.
