Assistant Principals' Reports

Term 3, 2022

STEPHANIE PEARCE

ASSISTANT PRINCIPAL

TEACHING AND LEARNING

Here we are, at the end of Term 4 already. It is hard to believe that another year has passed so quickly, but what a very rewarding year it has been. Across 2022 there has been a wide range of opportunities for our students to challenge and stretch themselves in their learning and development. Students and staff alike continued to achieve excellent outcomes both in and outside of the classroom. We saw new subjects studied across 7-12 and the ongoing commitment to learning shown by all of our students is in itself cause for celebration. The excellent results our students achieve year in and year out is a testament to this.

Our staff are a team of outstanding and experienced educators, leaders and administrators dedicated to our students, families, and the College. Their work across 2022 has been significant, making a difference in the lives of each of their students. Amongst these achievements was the finalisation of the College’s 2019-2023 Strategic Plan. Collectively we will now reflect and review, before taking a step forward in defining our next four years. For 2023 our focus will be to continue providing a strong learning environment that supports all students to experience growth from their individual point of need. To support this, we will continue to build a learning environment that allows all students to grow as happy, healthy, and active members of their school community.

I look forward to learning and collaborating further in 2023 and beyond! I wish everyone a safe and happy Christmas and summer break.

SIMON JONES

ASSISTANT PRINCIPAL

SENIOR SCHOOL

As we approach the end of another busy year it is important to reflect upon and celebrate the year that was. Firstly, the fact that we have returned to a relatively normal school year is a major cause for celebration. Nothing can replace the dynamic of face-to-face learning where human interactions and relationships create the chemistry for an optimal learning environment.

Starting at the top, our VCE results are exceptional once again, which is a testament to the dedication of all teachers across the school beginning at Year 7. I won’t rattle off the amazing data sets here as they are available elsewhere including on our Facebook page, suffice it to say that students and families who place their trust in Dromana College can be assured that their children are supported to thrive and to achieve their personal best.

I wish all graduating Year 12 students the very best for the future and have confidence that they leave us with bright futures ahead of them.  I very much enjoyed celebrating with them at our Valedictory Dinner.

Other highlights in the senior school were the Year 11 Presentation Ball and the Year 10 Formal. Again, these are annual milestone events that many students and families look forward to and it was great to see them back on the events calendar. They were wonderful occasions which were enjoyed in true Dromana spirit.

Our Jumpstart program has now concluded and was a great success. It is always pleasing to see students step up to the challenge of starting the next year level and the effort that they muster for this at the end of a long year.

I am certainly looking forward to some rest and relaxation and hopefully some warmer weather. I hope all students and families have a safe and relaxing break and I hope to see everyone back fully refreshed and ready to go again at the start of the 2023 school year.

Merry Christmas.
