Principal's Report

Term 3, 2022

It is with great pleasure that I make this contribution to the final College newsletter for 2022 in what has been a great year.  Our school by its design is a place of collaboration, sharing and engagement, fortunately we are also a community that embraces challenge and change. I am sure we are all looking forward to Christmas and New Year with family and friends.

Our students are continually challenged, motivated and engaged by interesting and relevant curriculum that caters to their individual needs. I extend my gratitude to all members of our College community for a fantastic year!

2022 has been a year defined by new and amazing opportunities. Seeing our students back onsite and engaging thoughtfully in all aspects of their school life has been a highlight of the year.

As I reflect on 2022, I return to our learning community’s greatest strength: the relationship between staff and students and the sense of belonging our community fosters. It is this which makes us so successful.

The continued outpouring of support, care and thoughtfulness has been nothing short of amazing, and I congratulate everyone for their contribution to making this year such a success in so many ways.

I am equally reassured by the resilience and positive attitude with which our students have embraced change.

The leadership of our College Captains: Kyneisha Czowhan, Krystabel Forward, Melody Johnson and Francesca Montgomery during this year has been outstanding.

The outlook for 2023 is exceptional! Our enrolment will again increase, reflecting community confidence in our programs, our staff and our students. I am looking forward to the continued success of all our students.

School Leaders for 2023

I have the great honour in announcing our College leadership for 2023. This year we had the opportunity to meet with all the senior students who put their names forward as College leaders via individual video presentations.  Each of these nominees for College Captain were truly worthy of the

position and I would like to publicly commend their courage and commitment in standing for election.  We should all be very proud of these young people, They are a great credit to themselves and their families and will be fantastic ambassadors for Dromana College.

The four School Captains for 2023 are:

Oliver Delany
Robby Wood Ingram
Mackenzie Duncan

Orientation Day

I was privileged to welcome our new Year 7 students on Tuesday 13th December for their orientation day at the college.  The students had the opportunity to meet their new classmates, their teachers and to familiarise themselves with the school.  Our new students made every effort to put their best foot forward and I am looking forward to them continuing their learning journey with us in 2023.

Valedictory

It is always with mixed emotions that we farewell a Year 12 cohort.  We are sad that their time with us has concluded, proud of the wonderful young people they have become and excited for their futures.

We hope their time at Dromana College has been special. The last two years have thrown more challenges than anyone could have ever imagined at our our class of 2022. Their resilience, positivity, kindness and sense of purpose held all our learning community together and produced a magnificent end of year atmosphere across the school.

They were an amazing cohort who lived our  values of respect, responsibility, integrity and personal best.  We wish them well in their future pathways, and we thank them for the memories and friendships. We trust that they will return to let us know of their  achievements.

Lastly, I personally want to thank our whole college community for their support across 2022 and wish all of our students, staff and families a very happy Christmas and a wonderful and safe summer break.
