Kitchen Garden


The Foundation students started their kitchen unit on ‘Eggs’. To begin they made a French Classic, ‘Pain Perdu’, which in English translates to ‘lost bread’. Bread that was stale and otherwise ‘lost’ or thrown out is used in this simple dish. It is usually called French toast. Students, cracked, observed and whisked eggs, milk, sugar and vanilla. They also cut up strawberries to garnish the dish. Maple sugar and a dusting of icing sugar were added to serve.
