Arts and Design Technology Showcase

Students and staff from the Arts and Design Technology Learning Area have been busy organising our annual Art and Technology Showcase event to be held next week.

The event will be open to the public on Thursday 3rd November from 6.00-8.00pm and will be held in the Brigidine Centre.

This exhibition will, again, showcase student’s work, from Foundation to Year 12, and will include pieces that have been designed, manufactured and created in Visual Arts, Visual Communication Design, Media, Technology Wood and Metal, Food Technology and Performing Arts.

This year, our showcase will be opened by local artist, Troy Firebrace.

Troy was born in Shepparton and his love of art started as a kid, always sketching in his school books. It wasn’t until Years 11 and 12 that Troy started to explore painting more and this soon become a hobby.

After finishing school, Troy enrolled at GOTAFE in Shepparton to complete a Diploma in Sport and Recreation. This led to being offered two positions at LaTrobe University in Bendigo, a Bachelor of Education and Bachelor of Visual Arts.

Over these three years, Troy’s art style developed, exploring different art styles and mediums, leading Troy to eventually find his own style, concept and motivation. During this time, Troy started to have exhibitions to showcase his work at Kaiela Gallery, Melbourne Museum and Dudley House in Melbourne. Troy’s art gained lots of attention and he started taking commissions from clients all across Victoria. After completing his Bachelor in Creative Arts, with a Major in Fine Art, Troy is now studying a Masters of Teaching - Secondary and hopes to pursue a career as an artist but, also, to provide cultural learning and education to students.

We look forward to welcoming Troy to our College and hearing more about his career and art work when he joins us on Thursday evening.

So, how do I enter the 2022 Art and Technology Showcase?

There are two ways to enter your work in the Showcase.

1. Your teacher will select work created in class.

2. You can enter work completed outside of the classroom, in one, or more, of the following categories:

  • Collaborative entry (get a group of friends together and create something spectacular)
  • Individual creations of any media (paper, mixed media, wood, glass, metal, photography, Lego etc.)

Entries must be submitted to your teacher by Friday 28th October.

We look forward to seeing your wonderful creations!
