Skilled Performers Entertained and Captivated Audiences

Every Year 7 student was featured in the Year 7 Instrumental Concert held at Life Ministry Church. Each instrumental group displayed just how far they have come since they commenced their instrumental journey. Two classes then combined their talents to perform a piece especially written for them by Mr Aaron Chan. Isabel Alcordo (7.3) demonstrated her musical maturity as she presented a violin solo, and Keishi Sasuga (10.3) spoke of the opportunities that are available in Oxley Christian College’s Music program. In addition, the Senior Concert Band and Sinfonia inspired all with their performances. It certainly was a night of celebration.

A full report of the Year 5 Instrumental Concert will feature in the next edition of The Vine.

Year 11 students undertaking the Drama Unit 2 and Music Unit 2 courses have performed their assessment work for this semester. Students and staff were treated to skilled presentations and were entertained by their work.

The Seraphim Choir and Junior Vocal Ensemble performed at the Concert for Cancer, presented by the Ringwood Salvation Army Band. There was a large crowd in attendance who appreciated the talents and enthusiasm of our singers. Both ensembles were fine ambassadors for our College.

Many vocal and instrumental students have been undergoing St Cecilia and AMEB examinations and are to be congratulated on their commitment to rehearsals and their bravery in performance. What a fine achievement by all our music students.

It is now time to consider music lessons and ensemble choices for 2023. There will be communications in the coming weeks.

Unit 2 Music Performances - Lunchtime Concerts

Students from the Year 11 VCE Music class combined to give two very entertaining and successful lunchtime concerts recently in the BPAC auditorium. Vocalists Alicia Barker, Leila Rivet, and Olivia Mansell, gave polished performances, with Alicia and Leila both including one unaccompanied song each, while Olivia did something a little different in choosing to be accompanied by the guitar for Both Sides Now. Three days later Kasen Stanley (guitar) and Jarvis Eleveld (voice) gave the second concert, where both performed admirably and with commitment. The concerts were well attended by the students’ colleagues in Year 11, as well as staff.  We look forward to hearing more from them as they move on to Year 12 in 2023.
