In the Year 10 elective, Painting and Printing, students learnt about the printmaking technique of serigraphy or silkscreen printing. Students followed the art process to create their own original designs to print onto black or calico fabric bags, using our new digital thermal printer. Due to COVID-19 last year, we weren’t able to explore the potential of this new printer. Our class was privileged to be the first to use it. 

The photos below, which were taken prior to the current COVID-19 restrictions, showcases our talented students using the software to convert their artwork into a readable file for the thermal printer, making the screens where students burnt their artwork onto using the thermal printer and then printing their artwork onto the fabric bag using the serigraphy printmaking technique.
