Music Camp at Arrabri Lodge Warburton

From the pen of Claire Piechocki Year 9

On Friday the 14th of May, a group of eager, young musicians set out on a music camp to Warburton that would be one for the books. Packed with sectional competitions, rehearsals, performances and excitement, this camp was one I’ll never be able to forget. Surrounded by the greenest forests possible and enthusiastic music-loving kids, it was the perfect recipe for a weekend away. We also had the privilege of performing live at two primary schools in town - Warburton Primary and St. Joseph’s Primary. Playing live music for a young, captivated audience and feeling the joy firsthand radiate throughout the rooms was truly mesmerizing.

On camp, I was able to bond and become so much closer with everyone in the music department; whether it be by impromptu jam sessions, watching the beautiful sunset with the striking greenery or the overly competitive mini-golfing sessions held during any bit of free time we had. Surviving on adrenaline rushing through our veins and a jam-packed schedule full of rehearsals and games, music camp was one of the best experiences I’ve ever had. We were so blessed to be able to wake up every morning surrounded by the gorgeous landscape and walking through the campsite finding little Easter eggs that Arrabri Lodge had in store, whether it be the low ropes course, sensory trails or the games room that held countless karaoke sessions. During the three days, I was able to learn and grow so much more not only as a musician but also as a band member.

Thank you so much especially to Mr Hickey, Miss Addis, Mr Vague, the music leaders Rebecca, Lauren.
