Selamat Siang,

And just like that, it was back to our morning Zoom check ins - a great way to see all our classes and maintain our connections with each other. Well done to all students for logging on each day, remaining enthusiastic and contributing to all the wonderful discussions and activities during these zooms. Thank-you also, to all parents and carers for ably assisting your children during last week. It is greatly appreciated.

Last week, 5/6 students attended zoom check-ins at 9am. Many different activities and discussions took place. Kahoot participation levels definitely increased, students challenged each other with their drawings on Skribblio, and we delved deeper into our class novel “I am David”.

A range of different Remote Learning 4.0 Choice Boards were made available to the students this week, with optional activities revolving around Literacy, Numeracy, Wellbeing. A Soccer choice board was also put together by Ms. Embery. It was great to see the students have a go at the various activities on these choice boards. It’s important to keep the mind stimulated whilst at home and these activities are a great way to do that.

As part of our “Think Global, Act Local '' Guided Inquiry unit, students began the initial stages of the Travel Expo they will conduct later on in the Term. They were tasked to research a range of different features of a country from around the world and compile this information in a set of slides ready to be presented in a brochure. Students needed to research the weather, culture, natural attractions, landmarks, popular sports associated with the country, food/cuisine and the cost of living within their respective countries. It was great to see students gather a range of different pieces of information including graphs, pictures and text displaying the range of information they found. See below for a few examples!

Mmmmmm, that smells delicious! It was great to see another great turnout at Mrs Brisbane's Cooking Zoom on Wednesday. Last week students made delicious Apple and Cinnamon Muffins! Stay tuned for another round of Mrs Brisbane's Cooking adventures this Wednesday on Zoom!

With Remote Learning remaining for another week (hopefully the last!!!) there are a few changes to the way we will conduct our learning. Our Zoom check-ins at 9am will remain the same however on top of these check-ins there will be some small group Zoom sessions focused around Literacy and Maths. (See below for the timetable for these Zoom meetings) We will post the groups on Google Classroom and let students know in the morning Zoom check-ins as well.

A daily task will also be expected to be completed by each student, and this will be posted as an activity on SeeSaw for the students to access. This task will be explained in the morning zooms and have instructions on the slides posted to the SeeSaw activity. This task needs to be uploaded to SeeSaw and then teachers will be able to provide feedback to students each day. A new choice board has also been made and this will remain optional for students if they want to complete an additional piece of work throughout the rest of the day. On Thursday, students will have their Specialist Zoom meeting in the morning at 9am and will complete the Specialist work assigned to them by their Specialist teachers that day.

Stay safe and stay warm!
