Principal's Message
Term 2 Week 8
Week One Done!
First, thank you for your engagement in our first week of Remote Learning. We know that this is not where any of us want to be after last year’s challenges. We have seen lots of responses to the Choice Board tasks and amazing engagement with our Check Ins across the entire school.
With 901 family visits to Seesaw over the last 7 days.
A summary of what I communicated last week to all families around our organisation for Remote Learning this week appears below:
- Planned Curriculum Days 10th and 11th June have been postponed with approval from School Council. Feedback indicates that families would prefer Remote Learning provision or if lockdown is lifted, for students to return to school on Friday.
- Year 5/6 Camp and Junior Production are events we are still to make a decision on.
- Our Remote Learning program now includes small group instruction in English and Mathematics plus the daily check in from the classroom teacher.
- The small groups give students an opportunity to work with their teacher ‘live’ and connect with their peers. Teaching will be targeted to the students’ point of need although this is much more challenging over video conference.
- Paper packs of the Choice Board and set task can be made available if families contact their child’s teacher.
- Specialist Days:
Foundation: Wednesday
1/2: Tuesday
3/4: Friday
5/6: Thursday
- On Specialist days the Specialist teachers (Performing Arts, Physical Education, Visual Arts, Indonesian, and Kitchen Garden) provide a Choice Board of Learning Tasks. On these days classroom teachers will provide a recording or tasks for students to respond to and allow attendance to be recorded.
- The Specialist Choice Board or Tasks will be published on a Monday with the idea that tasks are completed on students’ Specialist Day, however, students may complete the tasks across the week.
- Tasks can be uploaded via Seesaw with Specialists giving feedback in a timely manner. Many of our Specialist staff are rostered on to supervise students onsite, which impacts their ability to give feedback on these days.
The timetables for each learning centre were sent out by classroom teachers on Friday.
Feedback will be provided on the Set Task only via Seesaw in addition to the small group instruction conference.
Assembly
Can you guess which classroom I'm in for Assembly?
