International Students

Uni Open Day experience

More and more, VCE students like us become aware that it is important to prepare for our future after High School. In our case, the most urgent thing we should do is to find out which courses we are interested in. Northcote High always assists the students with this process, which is very helpful .

As part of this work, on May 7th, Ms. Hill and Ms. Fiona from our International Office took the Year 11 international students to the Victoria State Library for the Uni Open Day. As a student who is going to face VCE exams very soon but still has no idea about the choice of courses, and then the university which offers them, to be honest, this event was very supportive and helpful for me to increase my understanding and help me to widen my horizon.

As we went into the library, we could immediately see so many brochures of Australian universities around us, and there were also several coordinators there, who represented each university, to give the students advice. Luckily, I had awesome conversations with three popular universities in Australia,  Monash University, the University of Sydney, and the University of Queensland. It is no exaggeration to say that I suddenly have a specific aim about which course and university am I going to try my best to apply for after these three conversations.

First of all, they all asked me a simple question, that is, which major am I interested in. After that, they began to introduce me to the detailed information of my interested major in their university, how this course is ranked in their school, and the requirements for ATAR. Lucky last, most of us were all got some small souvenirs from them and our friend Linda received a Switch game controller from the lucky draw of this event which was super lucky! Congratulations Linda!

On behalf of all the international students from Northcote High School, I would like to thank all the staff of NHS, especially Ms. Hill and Ms. Fiona who always give us great support and always take care of us wonderfully! We really appreciate it because you always make our day!
