Units of Inquiry  

The units of Inquiry are:

Term 1

HISTORY: The Australian Colonies

A study of colonial Australia in the 1800's. Students look at the founding of British colonies and the development of a colony, with a particular focus on the effects of the Gold Rush.

 

Term 2

SCIENCE: Desert Survivors

The Desert Survivors unit provides an opportunity for students to explore some of the structural features and adaptations of desert plants and animals, and to compare them with plants and animals that live in other environments.

 

Term 3

GEOGRAPHY: Diverse and Connected World

This unit allows students to develop an understanding of different countries throughout Asia, Europe and North America. Students investigate the economic, demographic and social inequalities between countries as well as gathering an understanding of the natural  disasters that can occur across the planet.

 

 

Term 4

SCIENCE: Earth's Place in Space

The Earth's Place in Space unit provides opportunities for students to explore how the patterns in the sky relate to days, months and years. Students' understanding of how observation and models can be used to shape ideas and understandings is developed through hands-on activities and student-planned investigations. Students also investigate the elements of our Solar System and Earth's position within it.
