Inquiry Centre

Curriculum

This week proved that even through Remote Learning, our MPRPS Community and the families in the Inquiry Centre can come together and have some fun! We’ve enjoyed many special events alongside our Seesaw and Google Meet calls and would like to thank everyone for their support.

In Maths last week, we continued our exploration of multiplication using a range of different strategies including making equal groups, arrays, multiplication number sentences and number lines. It was incredible to see students challenging themselves and using the character strength of curiosity and perseverance as they solved many different open-ended questions.

In Writing, we wrote our own narratives using the strategies we learned the week before including our Sizzling Starts and Tightening Tensions. We were really impressed with all the descriptive words that were used throughout! In Literacy, we challenged ourselves to find a range of different non-fiction text features including the contents page, captions, labels, facts, the index and glossary!

In addition to our Google Meet check-ins and mini-lessons, we interacted with students during an independent assessment session. We were able to have a fun and engaging session to catch up and to collect valuable data that will continue to support us in providing learning opportunities that are specific to each students' needs.

Through our Weekly Choice Boards, we provide students the opportunity to explore different areas we would normally participate in at school. This includes Guided Inquiry, Wellbeing, STEM, Science and First Nations Perspectives activities. In addition to our choice board, we celebrated Book Week our way! There were lots of laughs shared throughout the week as we shared and read our favourite books in our book nooks, watched teachers from all across the school read exciting books. Everyone was very creative and resourceful in our character dress-ups!

Thank you again for joining us in our Glow in the Dark Disco that was hosted by Disco Daisy! All the teachers were so impressed with all the dance moves, decorated masks and smiles. The highlight of the night was seeing everyone dancing with their families!

This Thursday, we will be hosting a Cold Write assessment piece during our class Google Meet session. This will happen during our check in and should run until approximately 10:30am. Please ensure your child has a pencil and lined paper!
