Parents & Friends

♥️Thinking of everyone in our community. So many of us have been impacted either financially, mentally or emotionally with continued restrictions. Thankfully the sun looks set to put in an appearance this week to make Remote Learning just a little brighter.

💡 Last week, two of our school community parents shared two great ideas to help with boredom and bringing joy to others.

Louise shared a post from the Generosity Collective who distribute packs to vulnerable children and to make each pack a little brighter and unique, they’re asking for drawings from children to include - all identifying features are removed before being sent on. You can see more here: https://www.facebook.com/126418116024477/posts/272481524751468/

Sam posted that there was a Book Hunt going on in the neighbourhood - similar to the Bear Hunt from last year. Place a favourite book in your front window where little passing pedestrians can spot it, as well as get out in the sunshine to see how many books you can spot.

If things are seeming impossible in your world, please know you are not alone. The school community is here to support you, but if you feel like you need extra support with your child’s learning, please contact your child’s teacher. The teaching staff know that this is a tough time for families and they have a range of support strategies they can use to help you and your child.

If you’re feeling particularly stressed or depressed, please reach out to support services:

🥣 Jess Sterritt Walker co-ordinates support for school families through an anonymous volunteer community. Your family, or a family you know, may be having a challenging time due to the latest lockdown.

Please know that you can reach out to Jess to let her know what you need - eg. groceries essentials, some snacks for lunchboxes or a few home cooked meals. Jess reaches out to her volunteers who provide what’s needed and both parties stay anonymous to each other.

If you need help, or if you’d like to help, you  can email Jess at:

🍽 Leonie has extended the order date of the Picture Plates till September 7. Contact Leonie Semmens directly through the Parent Facebook Group (or ring the office) if you’d like to collect a template for your order - they make awesome Christmas gifts! 🎁

🍞 Next time you’re grabbing your bread at Bakers Delight Brentford Square, don’t forget to mention that you’re a member of the MPRPS community - Greg & Bronwyn donate a % of your purchase back to the school. It’s an easy way to support the school as well as local businesses.

👍🏻 If you haven’t already, please join the Parents Facebook group: https://www.facebook.com/groups/mprpsparentsandfriends/

This group was started by Trish Brimelow 6 years ago, and is a great place to stay up to date with school events and connect with fellow parents.
