Return to School Plan F-2

F-2 Return to School Plan
Following the recent advice of the Chief Health Officer we are very excited to see the return of our Foundation-2 students tomorrow and for the remainder of term 3. Our staff have been busy again planning for the return to school and working on the logistics for our 3-6 area. I really appreciate the work that our staff do to continually pivot on such short notice and with my wife being a teacher I am well aware of the planning and thought that goes into each day of learning and teaching (whether it be online or face to face). It is not as easy as flicking the switch and saying everything goes back to normal so from the bottom of my heart a massive well done to each and every school staff member not only at Surfside but across Victoria – you guys are AWESOME!!
Each time we return from a remote learning situation we always face a different challenge or form of restrictions, so it is important that we support each other but my number 1 priority is the health and safety of the staff and students at Surfside so please ensure that all of you are aware with the following requirements and expectations to ensure a safe transition for our students and to maintain a safe working environment for our staff:
Drop Off and Collection of Students
It is preferred that parents in Foundation-2 use the drop and go approach with their children and students are dropped off at the front gate. Please organise a collection point for your child in the afternoon where possible. If this is not possible you may walk with your child within a closer proximity to the classroom. Under no circumstances will any adults be able to enter the classroom via the external doors. If you are required to enter the school building this can only be via the administration office and using the QR check in code. If students are entering the back gate the same expectations apply. We will have leadership and staff available to support where required.
F-2 Learning
Now that that it is expected for all F-2 students to return to face to face teaching there will no longer be a remote learning platform provided for these year levels. It is expected that all F-2 students return to onsite learning from Friday 10th September.
Camp Australia – Before and After School CareIf you require before and after school care you need to log in to the Camp Australia Parent Portal and make your required bookings. All current bookings prior to yesterday’s announcement have been cancelled - https://pp.campaustralia.com.au/
CanteenOur canteen will be closed for Friday and we are still working around the logistics for next week and will communicate with families via Compass.
Health and Safety at Surfside PS
It is an expectation that all parents and carers follow the required guidelines:
- A face mask must be worn at all times for adults attending on-site
- It is recommended that students wear a mask when at school but this is not mandated
- Please maintain physical distancing requirements of 1.5m
- No waiting or playing in the playground before or after school hours
- If your child is unwell they are not to attend school and please seek medical advice
Borrowed Devices
All F-2 devices that have been borrowed through the school will need to be returned first thing on Friday.
3-6 Remote Learning
All year 3-6 students will continue with our current remote and flexible learning arrangements.
