A Safe Community for Learning and Work

You may not be thinking about this yet, but I have already turned my mind to 2022 and what this might look like. The most important thing for me in planning for next year is how to create a safe learning environment for the children in our care and a safe work environment for our staff. However, I know that to achieve this outcome I will need the help of our whole community and I also know this help will need to come in the form of vaccination. We know from the situation in NSW there are two main sources of transmission of the Delta variant of the coronavirus, these being workplaces and homes. However, schools are a unique place where these two things come together and thus it is going to take the community to protect our school now and in the future.

In response to this, I am encouraging all staff to get vaccinated, and I am providing paid leave for them to do this if they cannot get an appointment outside of work hours. What I am now asking from our community is the same thing. If parents are vaccinated, and their children once eligible, then they are not only protecting their family (both immediate and extended) but they are also protecting our Loreto community, including all children and students (who range in age from zero to eighteen) as well as their families.

We’ve done a great job with online learning in 2020 and 2021, however, what we really want is to be in school next year not learning online, and most importantly, we also want all of our community to be safe and healthy.

So, start thinking ahead about what you want for 2022. I encourage you to get behind the vaccination program and if you haven’t done so already, book your vaccination now. I am happy and proud to say I am fully vaccinated!
