Patterned Faces by Year 7

Year 7 were shown how to place facial features in the correct position. Then they examined how to draw eyes correctly and to line up the lips in relation to the philtrum and the pupils of the eyes.

The application of patterning to form the face and head turned the structural shapes into a decorative image.

Front-view Figures by Year Seven

Year 7 were introduced to the formula that enables the figure to be drawn in correct proportion to the size of the head. The underlying structure was then turned into a form that showed tonal blending and modelling and the use of oil pastel as the medium.

Abstract Images by Year Eight

Year Eight students were introduced to several ways to create Abstract images by focusing on the use of Line and Direction, and the creation of a Focal Area. These images were coloured using pencils and harmonious or complementary colour schemes.

The second smaller scale abstraction took the form of a problem where students had to use a set number of ellipses, triangles, or rectangular shapes of varying size. The images needed to overlap to create new shapes that were then patterned to create areas of interest in the image.
