Principal's Report

Return to School

Sadly, we will not return to school this term. However, we look forward to the slightly relaxed restrictions that will allow our students to enjoy more of the outdoors over the upcoming holidays. Prep Postcards will go out next week – at this stage we are preparing for both onsite and remote transition. Hopefully we can implement our onsite options. We are really looking forward to seeing everyone next term!

SunSmart

Just a reminder that hats are to be worn to school from the 1st day of September through to 30th April as part of our SunSmart Policy. At the moment we are experiencing some warm weather, please make sure your child brings their hat if they are attending Onsite Learning.

Father’s Day

We wish everyone a very happy day on Sunday for Father’s Day.  Yesterday I went for a long walk and saw lots of families out enjoying the beautiful day and really making the most of the small things.  During this time, we all slow down a bit and it is important to make the most of every day.  I even saw some Spoonvilles that shone brightly in gardens and some signature rocks that children had painted and made a trail for. Slow down and enjoy what we can.

Book Week

Congratulations to all of our students for their participation in the Book Week activities. Your magnificent, quirky and interesting hats were fabulous to see.  Thank you to everyone for their participation and a special thank you to Leanne Bentley, our librarian. for her support to children and staff during Book Week.

I am Grateful for:

Look out for our Gratitude Wall from staff this week in our assembly.  We are asking students who would like to be part of our wall, to send in a photo of themselves with their message of gratitude.  They can choose who and what they are personally grateful for.  Please note this photo will be shared with the community.

3 Way Conferences

Staff will be holding 3 Way Conferences with you and your child on Wednesday 15th September.  More information around bookings will be sent via COMPASS soon. These interviews are a great opportunity to celebrate the amazing resilience, persistence and work ethic that our students have displayed.  The focus will be on celebrating their achievements this term and the setting of future goals ready for Term 4.  It is also an opportunity to celebrate our families, as you have been the backbone of getting your children organised and ready to learn on their WebEx sessions every day.

NAPLAN Results

Boronia Heights students and staff have cause for celebration this term with the results of our NAPLAN. Congratulations to our Year 3 and 5 students on their outstanding NAPLAN results.  NAPLAN results have been mailed out to all families this week.  Our numeracy results were outstanding in Year 3 and 5, and excellent results were also achieved in reading and writing.  This is a terrific result and is the reward of all our staff working collaboratively together to improve student outcomes. This news reinforces the crucial role of high-quality teaching and learning – whether it be remote or face-to-face – in attaining positive student outcomes.

Staffing

A big congratulations to Sarah Weichert and Simon on the safe and happy arrival of baby Fletcher this week.  I know you will join with me in wishing them all the very best wishes and love.  We are all looking forward to a visit from Sarah and Fletcher next term.

We also wish Mrs. Goulding the best of luck with her knee replacement surgery.  Mrs. Goulding is already up walking and doing an amazing job with her exercises.  We look forward to welcoming her back next term. Please be aware that there will be no German tasks for the following two weeks.

Enjoy your weekend and stay safe
