Painting and Printmaking
During Lockdown 5.0, the Year 10 students in the Painting and Printmaking elective, drew a still life in graphite. The drawing they completed was an extension from the work they have been undertaking in the classroom. Students set up a still life with their three most cherished objects, in preparation for their My (still) Life painting, which will be completed in the medium of oil paint.
Some of the personal objects include:
- Plant as our student comes from a family of gardeners
- LEGO car for their love of cars
- An animation doll which was made for school
- Speaker to listen to her favourite music on
- Snow dome purchased on a family holiday to Croatia
- Favourite perfume scent
- Mug gifted from a close friend
Photography and Film
Year 10 students in the elective, Photography and Film, created original digital artworks. By learning the art elements and art principles in the classroom, students used their smartphone to photograph various art elements and art principles located in and around their home during Lockdown 5.0. Afterwards, students learnt how to use Adobe Photoshop to manipulate images from the internet to include with their photographs creating unique artworks.
Life Imitates Art Competition
In Drawing and Sculpture during our recent remote learning students participated in an "Art Imitates Life' photographic competition. Well done to the students involved and the very creative responses submitted.
Visual Art B
In Term 2, the talented Year 8 Visual Art students learnt skills using the method of painting with acrylic paints. They studied the period of Impression, focusing on the work of the famous artist Vincent Van Gogh. The students learnt the skills of mixing colours and tones together with trialing different applications of paint to create a range of surface textures. The theme of ‘Wonder’ was researched and each student developed their own vision of what wonder meant to them as the subject matter for their beautiful paintings.
