Sustainability Team

Our Green Team have BIN having an unbeLEAFable time this term. Recently, the students created new crayons from old broken ones which would have otherwise ended up in landfill. This was a really fun activity organised and run by the Environment Leaders and all the students went home with a new and improved super crayon. If you want to have a go at creating your own at home over the holidays, here is a link to the website we used: https://www.sheknows.com/parenting/articles/979355/make-old-crayons-like-new-with-diy-craft

All students are welcome to come along to Green Team which is held every Wednesday lunchtime in Miss Baxter's classroom.

Nude Food

Thank you to the whole community for supporting Nude Food Tuesdays! In just 10 short weeks, there were 1536 Nude Food lunches brought to school. This is an outstanding effort! To consider how much rubbish this saved from going to landfill is really exciting. Imagine what we could do if every day was Nude Food Day. The winning class was 1H with 144 Nude lunches brought over the 10 weeks. 3T was a close second with 136 and 1S was third with 122. The winning Grade will receive their prize early next term.

This has inspired us to become a completely Nude Food School beginning in 2019! In Term 4 we encourage everyone to practice by bringing Nude Food everyday. To support this transition, we will be offering Nude Food recipes, tips and tricks throughout the term. Here is a 'How To' on packing Nude Food lunches.

Green Team

This week we planted out wooden logs with succulents. I think everyone will agree that they look magnificent! Go team!

Landcare Biodiversity Grant

Hip hip hooray! We received another grant! This one is for over $4000 to improve the Biodiversity of Kingswood Primary School. We will be strengthening our partnership with Braeside Park along with many exciting purchases to improve our Biodiversity. Here is a breakdown of how the money will be spent:

- Drip water system for our vertical gardens

- 250 Australian native plants

- Gardening items including wheel barrows, shovels, forks & watering cans

- $500 to put towards an excursion

We will also be purchasing thermal sensing cameras to watch our nesting boxes.
