Term 3 SIS Sport Review

Junior Girls Indoor Cricket

The Junior Girls Indoor Cricket team had a most enjoyable 4 games. The team bonded well and as more games were played, the skills of the girls dramatically improved. The win/loss record for the girls was 1-3, with the win highlighted by the fact the team defeated Woodleigh by one run. We played our games at Icon Sports in Doveton and Saxon Sports in Frankston which were great facilities for the team to play at. The team consisted of:

  • Catarina Dell’Aquila
  • Renee Di Maio
  • Sarah Gonsalves
  • Sarah Mortensen
  • Sienna Assestta
  • Mackenzie Easton
  • Sienna Sloane
  • Rachel Ruea
  • Joyce Mel
  • Hannah Ruea
  • Jennifer Lako
  • Bright Ten

Well done girls on your efforts representing Nazareth College. The experience you have all had playing Indoor Cricket will make even better for next year. Well Done!

Mr Andrew Holten

Coach

Intermediate Mixed Touch Rugby

Congratulations to the squad on a successful season this year with 3 wins and 2 losses.

The season started off rocky as most players were new to the game but as the season progressed the team began to hit their stride and were clicking on all cylinders.

Notable mentions are Rebecca Munyard and Emily Page for their leadership on the team.  Special mention to Jared Reynolds, Andy Lim and James Mucha for their on field athleticism.  Lastly, I wanted to thank all those on the team who came to training and put in 100% throughout the season.  It was truly a great team effort!

Intermediate Girls Indoor Cricket

The girls worked hard to improve and showed some terrific development especially with their batting and their running between the wickets. It was also great to see some of the girls become very smart fielders as well. Unfortunately, we weren't able to manage a win from our 4 games but we improved a great deal and with a bit more luck could have won some games.

Our most valuable player was awarded to Ashley Arcigal.

Intermediate Boys Soccer

The Intermediate Boys played very good football in all their games but were punished for some poor finishing and a lapse in defence in two of their five games. There were a number of solid performances throughout the team with Nikola Vukosavljevic in goals, the midfield trio of Albanese, Sekulovski and Eid and the strike force of Harry Nguyen, Oscar Lam and Ryan Della-Salandra up front. We had a total of 20 players and they gave every effort to try and win the flag.

Congratulations to Kristian Tzamouranis on winning the MVP. Kristian was rock solid in central defence, winning headers and tackles and even scoring goals.

Senior Girls Netball

During term three I was lucky enough to be selected to participate in the SIS weekly sporting competitions for Senior Girls Netball. I am so fortunate to be a part of the team and have enjoyed every moment.

For me joining the team was about being able to focus more on the sport I love and to get in some extra time to actually play. This sport and the team I’m with, have taught me so much more than just netball yet also team work, the ability to deal even better with a loss or injury, how to problem-solve more effectively and to push myself to improve my skills. I loved having the opportunity to join the senior girl’s netball team and I can’t wait to participate in the years to come!

Thank you to Miss Morris for coaching us.
