Year 12 - Applications for next year
This is a busy term with Year 12’s currently making applications for the University and Tafe courses they wish to do next year through VTAC (VTAC is the sorting house between what Universities and Tafe’s have to offer, and what course each student wants to do). It is the expectation that each Year 12 student will make an application as it is easier to receive an offer for a course and reject the offer or defer it through VTAC, than it is to try and get in to further education later down the track.
By now, all students should have registered and have their applications underway. Once registered, students get a VTAC user account which will be used for all aspects of the applications process including applying for SEAS (Special Consideration) and Scholarships. This is also the avenue for VTAC to communicate with students regarding reminders of selection criteria requirements for courses they have chosen and emails regarding cancelled or new courses. Please note there is a fee of $36 payable by PayPal or Credit card for timely applications (finishing on 27th September) but this increases to $ 137 for late applications which can be done until December.
I am available to assist students with every aspect of their application and all students are expected to make an appointment with me to do this. Parents are also welcome to join their children’s appointment. I will be at the College during the first week of the September holiday period by appointment only.
Please note the following –
- Students using class time to make their application are expected to inform their teachers.
- If an appointment is made it MUST BE ATTENDED. Students who fail to turn up to their appointment without giving me cancellation notification, will be expected to forgo another appointment opportunity until the school holidays.
Good Luck to all the Year 12’s during this stressful time.
Cheers
