Careers News

The last few weeks of Term 3 have been very busy with career excursions and deadlines for University applications.

Year 12: deadlines, applications, emails and a Destination Survey

Over the next few weeks and months, Year 12 students are urged to keep checking both College and personal emails for information. More gap year jobs and full time jobs for  2020 are being advertised now on both Careers Classroom and on McCarthy Careers on Facebook.

In early February 2020 all students currently in Year 12 will receive a Destination Survey to complete via email. This is important to assist the College in planning and for the annual report.

UAC and early entry

On time applications for UAC close on Monday 30 September and by the end of this week all early entry and school recommendation applications will have been completed by the College so if students apply for these after Friday 27 September they will not be evaluated by the College.

Careers Excursions

Three Year 11 girls recently attended the inaugural Interprofessional Health Workshop on Tuesday 10th September. Students were able to participate in four scenarios set in an Emergency Department and featuring varied medical and allied health professionals working together to help the “patients” who were current students from the University of Newcastle Department of Rural Health.

Last week students from three local high schools attended a site experience visit at the Thomas Foods International worksite.  Students go to see first hand the processes involved and the opportunities for electrical and mechanical apprenticeships and SBATs.

New McCarthy Careers Web Page

For students in Years 10, 11 and 12 who are facing decisions in the next few weeks and months, the revamped Careers website is designed to provide information for the students and their parents.

It can be found on the College website or by clicking here.
