Year 12- Dorrigo Geography Trip

Year 12 Geography students recently studied the subtropical rainforests at Dorrigo National Park as part of their compulsory fieldwork in the topic "Ecosystems at Risk."  We trekked the Wonga Wonga 6 kilometre hike, explored the Crystal and Tristiana Falls area, completed vegetation transects and quadrats tested soil pH levels. The students will be able to use this information in short answer and extended response answers in their HSC examination. More importantly, the students gained an intrinsic sense of the value of ecosystems, justifying the need for preservation. For some students it was their first experience of visiting a rainforest.
