Prayer and Reflection

Prayer

Dear God,

we pray for a special blessing for each of our Year 12 graduands.

As they enter a new beginning, we pray that whichever path they choose will bring a sense of purpose and meaning.

Help them to always use their gifts and talents in service to you, O Lord.

May the world benefit from their gifts, and may they experience great joy in the sharing of these gifts.

Amen.

Year 12 Thanksgiving Mass - 16 September 2019

During Week 8, 67 Year 12 students gathered for a voluntary final Twilight Retreat which focused on Mark’s Gospel account of Jesus getting into the boat with his disciples and calming the storm. During the retreat the students reflected on their years together at McCarthy; they wrote thank you cards which they then presented to their parents and caregivers at the Thanksgiving Mass the following evening.

Father Chris made special mention of the fact that as a Catholic community we come to the Church to thank God for all he has done in and for our students. On behalf of the students I would like to express grateful appreciation to Father Chris for celebrating the Mass for the Year 12 students, their teachers and their families.

Youth Ministry activities

On Friday 20 September 22 Yr 10 students assisted with small group activities at the Yr 6 Confirmation Retreat at St Nicholas' Primary School. The students, who are being formed as the McCarthy Youth Ministry team, developed activities based on the meaning, themes and symbols of the Sacrament of Confirmation and led the activities with small groups of Year 6 students before the Year 6 students were confirmed by Bishop Kennedy on the weekend. It was very encouraging to see the youth team ministering so confidently to the students at St Nicholas’ in what was their first real ministry activity.

Condolences

Our thoughts and prayers are with Cassidy and Brady Hunter and their family following the passing of their mother, Cherie Hunter, and Louis Johnson and his family after the passing of his grandmother.
