Trivia Night Saturday, 1st September 2018

Of course, the night isn't just about having fun. We'll also be raising money for a school gate, bike parking and general improvements to the school grounds.

An important part of our fundraising on the night will be our silent auction. If you have a business or a contact, you can help by sourcing sponsorship or collecting vouchers, services, goods, hampers, art, etc and/or donating  for the silent auction. Please contact Jo McCutcheon on 0438 571 574, or send your donation direct to Glen Eira College, 76 Booran Rd Caulfield East 3145.

You can also send us an email or ring/sms Svetlana on 0431 154 662. We have prepared a letter requesting donations to help approach businesses you know.

Several GEC families have already made generous donations, including the Guss family and their business, Melbourne Table and Chair Hire, who are providing our tables, chairs and other equipment for the night.

Previous Trivia nights have been lots of fun and very successful.  We need a few more volunteers to assist planning the night. Please email GECPA if you can help gecpa@gec.vic.edu.au

Tree Planting

Thanks to the parents and teachers who organised and helped with tree planting last week with the Environments Club, the ELC and the Home Economics class. A new bush garden of indigenous plants was planted near the corner of the PAC Neerim and Booran Roads to beautify the school and create habitat. The students had a ball and one girl was thrilled to have planted her first ever plant! Please ask your kids not to walk on our new plants. Ross, a former student, dug over 200 holes for new plants and enjoyed being a buddy planting with Max - lucky to have the same buddy in primary school, high school and in uni holidays!

Stage 2 of the garden will be planted with indigenous grasses donated by the Level Crossing Removal Project Caulfield - Dandenong on Wednesday lunchtime 8th August. If any parents are keen to help please contact Catherine on 0412 119 807.

Weekly walk and talk

We have a social walking group which meets once a week to walk and chat for an hour.  We meet on Tuesday evenings (weather permitting) at 7:45pm at the corner of Crosbie and Murrumbeena Roads at Duncan Mackinnon Reserve. So that we can keep in contact, we have set up a messaging group on Whatsapp. To join the group, just email us your name and phone number.  (If you don't already have Whatsapp installed on your smartphone, you will need to do that first -it's very easy to install and to use).

Bicycles

Gran Prix Bicycles offer school families a 5% discount and 5% donation back to Glen Eira College.  Collect a loyalty card from the school office and present it in store at Gran Prix Cycles, Glenhuntly Rd, Caulfield South.

The Forum will be a good opportunity to raise concerns about bus services to Glen Eira College and possible improvements. And a chance to argue to retain Glen Eira Road/Neerim Road on VicRoads and Glen Eira Councils Principal Bicycle Network with potential for improved safety for riding to Glen Eira College, several other schools, libraries and the Bay trail.

Thank you to the parents who provided and served supper at the school production. there were lots of yummies with a chance to share our enjoyment of the show with school families and friends. We raised $291.80. It is awesome! You made the difference with your smiles and wonderful cakes!
