Reading Week

Our exciting Reading Week focused on Heroes and took place in March. There was a broad range of activities which made every student even more aware of the growth and enjoyment they can get from simply picking up a book! The key events of the week included a poetry recital competition, an evening of poetry at Café AdAstra, a whole school Fancy Dress Day, with the theme 'Heroes from books', a photo competition 'Guess the teacher by the book', decorated doors inspired by heroes from books, 'Find the golden ticket in a book' competition and last but not least, a visit from the World Poetry Slam winner Harry Baker and from four other writers including historian Martin Elbel, graphic novelist Stewart Moore, novelist Michael Garamoni, and travel writer/blogger René Nekuda.

Týden četby

Náš činorodý Týden četby zaměřený na literární hrdiny se konal v březnu. Probíhala široká škála aktivit, které studentům připomněly, jak se mohou rozvíjet a pobavit čtením knih. Hlavními událostmi tohoto týdne byly soutěž v recitaci básní, večer poezie v Café AdAstra, celoškolní den v převleku za literární postavu, fotografická soutěž s názvem 'Hádej, který učitel se skrývá za knihou', výzdoba dveří učeben dle inspirace literárními hrdiny, soutěž 'Najdi zlatý kupón' a v neposlední řadě návštěva vítěze celosvětové soutěže poezie Harryho Bakera a čtyř dalších autorů, včetně historika Martina Elbela, autora grafických románů Stewarta Moora, autora románů Michaela Garamoniho a cestopisce/bloggera Reného Nekudy.

Poetry Evening

Our students and staff had a taste of illuminating international poetry on Tuesday, March 21, at Cafe AdAstra, thanks to our organiser Karolina Hrnčiříková and our master of ceremonies Martin Košatka. We relished poems by virtuosos such as Jan Neruda, Dante Alighieri, Sylvia Plath, and members of our ECP community. The event was nourishing for the soul; as Baudelaire famously said, "Any healthy man can go without food for two days - but not without poetry." The proceeds from the night were given to the children’s charity Zajíček na koni.

Večer poezie

V úterý 21. března si naši studenti a zaměstnanci užili ochutnávku mezinárodní poezie v Café Ad Astra, a to díky našim studentům Karolíně Hrnčiříkové a Martinu Košatkovi, kteří tuto akci organizovali. Vychutnali jsme si básně takových virtuosů jako jsou Jan Neruda, Dante Alighieri, Sylvia Plathová, ale i členů naší komunity ECP. Akce byla potravou pro duši; jak Baudelaire trefně řekl: „Každá zdravý člověk vydrží bez jídla po dobu dvou dnů - ale bez poezie ne.“ Výtěžek z večera byl věnován dětské charitě Zajíček na koni.
