Year 10

Hello and welcome to Term 4.  As you are aware Mrs Gale is on leave this term and I have been given the privilege of being your child's Year 10 Leader of Student Care for this Term. Year 10 will be undertaking their final junior school exams in Week 5 on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday.

How can you as a parent/guardian offer learning support? The following are a few simple ways to gently support your child and their studies:

  • Have they got a quiet work space of their own to study?
  • Are they getting enough sleep, eating the right foods and balancing study with exercise? Need to watch the night owls staying up on devices!
  • Have they reduced their paid employment shifts in order to have more time to study?
  • Do they have the correct equipment, including, pens, pencils, erasers, ruler, highlighter, and a functioning calculator?

While students are working through the ‘Study Skills Handbook’ in APC over the next few weeks, don’t forget you also have access to this information at home via the school website using the username mccarthycc  and password 77success

Study is not just reading notes taken in class. It’s summarising, creating flash cards, practising, and applying what is learnt to new situations, just to name a few.

These few simple tips are to help your child make the transition to senior school, which is not that far away. “Touch the gate, and switch on to learning”
