Tomi played under 15s and 7 a side rugby in three games and was captain for one game.  They played on synthetic fields which was something new for Tomi at the end of the games the schools held post match functions for the Cavaliers. Tomi got to experience the culture and traditions that Japan has to offer. Whilst in Japan, she attended 3 Rugby World Cup matches and explored the temples of Kyoto and visited the Peace memorial at Hiroshima.

Last weekend Tomi played with Gordon Rugby in the 7s state championships at Forster for three days. Gordon finishing in 3rd place.

Netball NSW Cup Finals Sydney

On Wednesday 25 September the Year 7/8 and Year 9/10 girl's netball teams played at Homebush Sydney in the State Finals of the NSW Secondary Netball Schools Cup.

The teams had advanced after winning the Armidale and Inverell preliminary competitions.

The Year 7 and 8 team had a very successful tournament only losing to the eventual winners and runners up of the competition. In the first game, the girls overcame Orange High School 12-11 in a tense affair. In game two they defeated St Columbis Anglican College from North coast by 7 points. In the last regular game they lost by 12 points to the eventual winners, Pymble Ladies College. In the semi finals the girls had a narrow 5 point loss to the school that were the eventual runners up. This was a sensational effort and all the girls worked really hard. There were great skills shown; the girls shooting, defending and passing were outstanding against high quality opposition.

In the Year 9 and 10 competition, the girls were very competitive with a couple of narrow losses to Lindisfame Anglican Grammar School from the far North Coast and All Saints College. In the third game the girls enjoyed a great win over Illawarra Sports High School. The girls finished a credible 7th overall.

A big thank you to the parents who travelled to Sydney to support our students. Melissa Bolsom has done a great job throughout coaching and training  the Year 7 and 8 girls assisted by Tania Young. A big thank you to Mr Wayne Northey for driving the bus and helping out. To Mrs Chloe Bushell a big thank you for looking after and coaching the Year 9 and 10 girls. It was a great experience for all the girls and a very well organised tournament. The girls were great ambassadors for McCarthy Catholic College, well done.
