Prayer and Reflection

Prayer

Mary, Mother of God, help me to respond to God’s call as you did.

Give me the strength to do what is right and to show love and care to everyone around me.

We make this prayer through Jesus Christ, Our Lord.

Amen.

Our Lady of the Rosary. Pray for us.

St Dominic. Pray for us.

Blessed Edmund Rice. Pray for us.

Condolences

Our thoughts and prayers are with Emily Clarke, Bailey Jameson, Keely Jameson, Cameron Smith and their families after the passing of their respective grandfathers.

During October, the month the Church has dedicated to the Rosary, RE classes have been encouraged to pray the Rosary together. During our assembly prayer this week we recalled the role played by St Dominic in promoting the Rosary as the prayer given him by Mary; we also recalled the significance of the short litany which is prayed at the end of all prayer at McCarthy - “Our Lady of the Rosary ..., St Dominic …, Blessed Edmund Rice - Pray for us”. For those of you who would like to know more about the place and role of the Rosary in our Catholic faith, the Apostolic letter Rosarium Virginis Mariae by Pope John Paul II is an excellent resource. In this letter John Paul stipulates the Rosary as the most effective prayer for “peace and the family”. You can access  Rosarium Virginis Mariae on the Vatican Website.
